Message from the Academic Dean

The CLC makes no apologies for its stress on academic excellence. Our commitment to "equipping today's leaders with a Christian worldview" necessitates that our instruction be academically rigorous. If our graduates are going to be competent and effective leaders in our present global climate, they will need to think critically and deeply about both their own Christian worldview and the worldviews they encounter around them. We aim to prepare you for the challenges that await you in a pluralistic culture.
Your CLC experience guarantees top-notch, in-class instruction from highly qualified and experienced faculty. As a student, you can expect to develop your critical thinking, reading, listening, writing and speaking skills --- qualities indispensible for effective leadership. Additionally, you can expect to build a base of knowledge in key disciplines that inform a Christian worldview such as philosophy, culture, theology, biblical studies and church history.
Our small class sizes are an advantage in your academic preparation. No getting lost in large lecture halls or classrooms. Through a variety of teaching approaches and styles you will get the personal attention you need from instructors who are not conduits of information, but educators interested in helping you understand for yourself the Christian worldview and its relationship to the particular emphasis you choose to study.
I invite you to join us in this venture of preparing for Christian leadership by loving God with your mind. I am confident you will not be disappointed.
Mark D. Mathewson, Ph.D.
Academic Dean
